This project expands an existing Waiheke Island dwelling through a series of pavilions that frame a central landscaped courtyard and Golden Tōtara. Conceived by Lynda Simmons Architect around concepts of light, shadow, and architectural layering, Sayes Jackson (SJA) partnered on the project to deliver bespoke technical development, detailing, and documentation.
SJA’s technical craftsmanship carefully articulates the pavilions’ sculpted geometry, featuring a razor-sharp roof edge, expressed truss work, and exposed structure. Detailing brings together a palette of traditional and modern materials acompanying delicate screening elements and a varaiety of fenestrations.
